Shampoo and Conditioner, Oh My!

I switched to indie shampoo and conditioner this past fall, and I’m not sure why I didn’t make the change sooner!

Black Violet makes my favorite shampoo and conditioner, hands down.  The Triple Shower Gel is described as ” Shampoo, body wash & light bath foam- all in one”.  The formula is very thin, but extremely foamy!  I am not a fan of using it as a body wash, but it is the best shampoo I have tried.  A little goes a long way, and I love the scents it comes in.  It leaves my hair soft and clean, with no build-up issues that can be associated with some shampoo formulas.
The Hydra Conditioner is described as ” Hydrating hair conditioner with organic calendula extract”.  I received a sample of this in Ringmaster, which is described as ” Ladies and Gentlemen! I present to you…spun sugar clouds of fluff with a sharp whip of Russian leather under the big top!”.  I was RIDICULOUSLY surprised by this scent, because I dislike leather scents in general, but I love this!  The Hydra Conditioner is a light-weight formula that leaves my hair silky soft, with a lot of body.

GudonyaToo is the maker of the other hair products I use.  Gudonya Salty DAWG Cream Shampoo has a super long description, but here is part of it: ” HIGH levels of sea salt mixed up with a creme soap give you SQUEEKY clean hair. Then we put in the HAIR LOVING ADDITIVES of Panthenol (also called Provitamin B5) and Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein!!! Reports have shown that Panthenol draws moisture from the air, and is an excellent moisturizer. It binds to hair follicles readily, and coats the hair and seals its surface; lubricating follicles and making strands appear shiny, and aids overall cell metabolism in the hair. Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein is a naturally derived wheat protein that contains the carbohydrates and makes a unique hydrating complex that gives a combination of moisture-balancing and film-forming properties that works to give hair better body control and a smoother, softer feel. Salty Dawg give your hair a great clean that is great FOR your hair too!!!”.  I really like this product, but I can’t use it continuously because it causes buildup for me.  The Spa fusion scent is great!
The INTENSE Hair Conditioner also has a long description: ” We use the finest quality of Rice Bran oil, which is a light, rich oil that soaks into the hair without being heavy and greasy.
BTMS-50 is a mild, naturally derived from canola oil, potent conditioner used as a anti-static and detangler for hair. It is reportedly able to restore and rebuild damaged hair, due to the properties of canola oil, it does not coat but penetrates and substantiates the hair shaft providing a softening effect that feels GREAT!
Then we put the ONE-TWO punch of Panthenol (also called Provitamin B5) and Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein!!! We wrap it all up glycerin (derived from olive oil), which draws in moisture to the hair and locks it in and silk protein, for the slippery feeling and luster that only silk can give (sorry vegans!)”.  This conditioner is pretty heavy, but I like it, and enjoy using it occasionally and as a conditioning treatment.

I know there are so many other shampoo and conditioner options out there, and would love to hear which ones are your favorite and why!
